Public Feedback
Introduction
Wider views are important and have helped to complete the Landscape Character Assessment. We were very keen to gather a wide range of feedback to this project.
Public observations on how the area has changed or may continue to change in the future would be valuable. We invited comment on how people enjoy the landscapes of this area how often they visit.
Feedback on the assessments of how the District area breaks down into distinctly different landscapes was sought along with any additional information that would help explain the landscapes we see today.

There are two topics on which we invited particular comment via the on-line survey, see below:
1. The Eight Special Landscape Qualities
As part of the Landscape Assessment Study we have identified 8 landscape qualities of the Mendip District landscapes. We are interested in views on this list and how peopl think these apply to the parts of the district they call home or like to visit.
The 8 special landscape qualities are described here – click link to find out more.
2. Favourite Walks, Views and Hidden Gems
As part of our study of the Mendip Landscapes we were keen to gather views on what makes this district special and what local people value most from the diverse collection of places.
Where are those places which lift the spirits or blow you away?
Are there places people value as part of daily routines or where they go for a long walk, jog, cycle or ride. What makes these special – is it just the type of landscape – woodlands, open farmland or the hill tops they head for or do they seek out places for special interests such as bird watching, climbing or biking?
Do they head to particular viewpoints or just enjoy a glimpsed view that signals nearing home?
Mendip has a rich collection of fantastic natural and historic features that tell a story or provide the destination for a good walk. Some well-known, others not so, where are the real gems or hidden treasures?
